The effect of casting temperature on the primary microstructure of cast irons, A.L.Norbury, JISI 1938,pp.161-180.

Notes:
In cast iron compositions, carbon is assumed to be in the diamond form in the liquid state and to form a diamond-iron compound (iron carbide) when it solidifies without allotropic change, but to form graphite, when it solidifies with allotropic change.
