Notes:
From the experiments of Goerens it was clear that:
1)The carbon in molten iron is in solution as carbide,
2)The system must be considered strickly to be one of iron-iron-carbide, as the iron-iron-graphite lines do not hold after due appreciation of Goerens observations.
Hatfield follows this concept.
